Martin Bennie Photography

I am a landscape photographer based in Royal Deeside, Scotland, with a lifelong passion for capturing the world through a lens.

My journey with photography began at 16, when my dad gifted me a Pentax ME Super film camera. That simple gesture sparked a love affair with photography that’s lasted over 30 years. From documenting the wild energy of my youth in the '80s and '90s to navigating the digital revolution, my camera has always been a trusted companion.

In 2007, life took me to South Korea for work in the oil industry. Amidst the pressures of a demanding job, I found solace in photography. It became more than a hobby, it became a form of meditation. I learned to quiet the noise, to feel rather than think, and to translate emotion into imagery. That’s when my photography truly began to evolve.

Today, I’m stepping into photography full-time, seeking a more connected, intentional way of living. My style is intuitive and atmospheric, shaped by the ever-changing light and landscapes of the Cairngorms and Royal Deeside. I don’t over-plan, I follow the sky, the weather, and my instincts.

Through personal and group tuition, I help others discover the joy of seeing differently. I’ll teach you just enough about your camera to get started, but more importantly, I’ll guide you toward capturing what you feel, not just what you see. My goal is to help you slow down, simplify, and reconnect with nature, with creativity, and with yourself.
